How I became a wellness coach

I reached a point where my career in events and project management was no longer fulfilling despite the unique experiences I had. There aren’t many people that can say they LEGALLY closed Oxford Street in London and on more than one occasion, but I did! The lifestyle I was leading wasn’t sustainable, nor was it good for my wellbeing.

Becoming a Wellness Coach fulfilled my desire to work in the wellness industry. As a coach I am able to draw upon my own experiences of stress, poor diet, lack of sleep and anxiety all of which cause imbalances and hugely impact your wellbeing. At the time we are going through challenges in our lives we may not realise what the root cause is. We often look at the problem, or challenge, that is presenting itself to us instead of what lies underneath. That was certainly my experience!

A trip to The BodyHoliday made me realise that my diet was full of beige food – cereal, toast, pizza, baguettes, crisps, cookies etc. All the things I love, and still do, but have very little nutritional value. I was eating these things as they were quick, readily available and provided a form of comfort. I wasn’t aware of how they were also contributing to bloating, energy slumps and acting as a coping mechanism. By making some small changes to my diet that didn’t involve deprivation I actually started to fuel my body and in turn I started to feel and see the benefits.

They also had the positive knock on effect of making me to leave work at a reasonable time. 

After making some lifestyle changes people started to say that I ‘looked well’ which we all know in the UK usually means one of two things – you look tanned or you have lost weight. It was great to hear positive comments and to know that my efforts were paying off. I no longer experienced the afternoon bloated feeling, had more energy and could feel I was getting fitter from the new workouts I was doing. All this was enough for me to carry on and make further tweaks to what I had been doing.

I work with clients to challenge and support them to make small changes in their lives. These changes will cumulatively have a big positive impact for them both mentally and physically so that they become the best version of themselves.

 

I thrive on seeing clients make transformations in their lives and those ‘light bulb’ moments that occur during a session or perhaps while they are practising a new habit.
